This month I've made something for the first time, I've wanted to make one for ages, it's not really taken long to cut out and make, about a week on and off. A tea cosy, made using some lovely patchwork print fabric...
I've taken some photo's, it looks okay... 
but I found it a bit fiddly once I put the wadding in place...
I've taken some photo's, it looks okay... but I found it a bit fiddly once I put the wadding in place...I was happy with how it was going until I top-stitched the bottom edge...I wished I'd hand-stitched instead, as I think it spoils the look of it, or I could have used some binding? what do you think? 
Still it's not bad for a first attempt. It's a present for my Mum for mother's day, she always making cups of tea and uses a teapot, so at least I know it will get used.

Edit - I decided to stitch some binding on the bottom edge and I think it looks much better!

I mean yeah, seeing that something is re-enforced always looks quality, I'd also look at the use.
If you have a hem that over the years is - from the users point of view, like a cosy, is being pulled on and off, sitting in maybe 70 C heat on a kitchen side of indeterminate state, such as spilled tea, maybe bits of last nights oil or fat or coffee (no offence meant).
Then it gets thrown into washing machine f'rinstance - which is pretty violent - then a good reinforced stitch has to put up with a lot.

Ally - thank you, yes wadding is very fiddly. I think thats why any quilt tops I start making end up as duvet covers instead!

Vintage Kitten - I didn't like the phone at first but it's great for taking photo's!
