Work in progress...

On facebook a lot of people have already made (and sold!) christmas things, so I thought I would make a start, I've got some ideas for christmas stockings, still a work in progress though...the little squares when they are finished will be hopefully be applique presents! I've got loads of fabric left so I might make some decorations for the tree as well!

I've spent the last two hours hand-quilting and I'm taking a short tea-break otherwise I will get fed up and they won't get finished!

all I need to do is decide what fabric for the lining, I think this vintage rose fabric I've used before would be a good match, what do you think?

Edited : just hand-stitched two little applique presents...fiddly little things!

and made a start on the hanging loop, braided of course!

Quilt - unfinished a bit longer?

I hope someone can help, I'm trying to find some fabric, I just need a FQ, just enough to finish binding a quilt I started making a year ago but the fabric is discontinued, I've already looked on ebay and etsy and no luck, it's a duck egg blue with pink flowers, 3 sisters by Moda, from the Aviary collection of fabric, thanks

There are a few squares in the quilt of the same fabric/colour, I suppose I could replace them with other fabrics and use them for the binding, I've found this fabric in my fabric stash...

Edit : looked all over the internet, in the end I bought two fat quarters in this fabric, moda - athill - cabbages and roses floral antique blue so at least I should have enough fabric now to finish the quilt!

Have a good weekend.

One Project A Month - July

I bought some new fabric the other week, with my birthday money, two out of the three lots of fabric have arrived, this lovely cheater print patchwork fabric, I think I will make some cushion covers from this

and this fabric, which I've ordered from America, is just gorgeous!  Real tree print fabric, I can't wait for this to arrive as I've got an idea what I'm going to make.

and finally this arrived earlier in the week, Michael Miller fabric, I've already bought the blue version of this but I think the yellow version ' French Journal' looks much better, much more cheerful, at least being stuck in with all this rain, time to so some sewing

Anyway I've made myself a shopping bag and here is the finished bag!

so that's my One Project A Month for July

Fabric Friday

Last weekend I sold two peg-bags and a shopping bag on the website which means I've been able to buy some new fabric for a change. I am really loving making the shoulder bag pattern and I'm planning to make some more bags, this time to sell. Here are some pics of the fabric I've bought this week.

Michael Miller - Beau Bird Paris, lovely blue print fabric

Alexander Henry - floral

Daisy Letter Bird Script fabric

and I think this one is my favourite "Vintage Dictionary" I can't wait to make this into a bag!
.................................
Edit: I've made a start on the front of shoulder bag no 3.

I've finished the first bag and here are some pics.
The fabric is a pretty floral linen print 'Lily' and is lined with a lovely deep yellow fabric with a pocket inside this surprisingly roomy bag...

The straps are just the perfect length for a shoulder bag and finished off with some lovely wooden buttercup design buttons. Just perfect for Springtime.

I'm really pleased with how it's turned out, I think it looks great!

ps) the pattern I've used is the Pretty Pinafore Purse Pattern from here

Sanderson Linen

Last month , I sent off to Sanderson Linen for some free samples of fabric and this is what I received. The bottom square, I cut into three lengths and stitched them together and trimmed another towel, the pink flower is a perfect match!
So I thought I would look on ebay for some Sanderson Linen fabric and found these curtains instead, 92" inches wide x 54" inch drop and lined as well, the cost was just £14.99 !!

I've made a start on altering them to fit our bedroom window , I've finished the first one and there was some fabric leftover so I've added a frill and made a plaited tie-back as well
I've re-sized the curtains so that they will fit both the bedroom windows and the living room windows and also made a curtain and the tie-back for over the front door. So that when I get bored of them in one room they will fit in another and I won't have to spend money buying new curtains!
