One Project A Month 2011 - August

Well it's taken me three hours just to make these two items, but worth it, a wedding gift set for a friend, I think they look lovely and I hope she will too.

I really enjoy making them, seeing what I can create from cream silk fabric, lace, ribbons and fabric flowers, a unique one off gift set of a lavender heart and fabric bookmark.
The wedding is in Carlisle but it's too far for us to travel for one day, but they have said they are having a blessing in South Yorkshire in the future so hopefully we will be going to that.

Good for you - a handmade gift will always mean so much more than the usual shop-bought stuff. Hope they have a great day!

Very attractive - they will love them. Do you make angels with any of your materials?

Alix - thanks, but then I always wonder, will they like it, is it good enough, will they think I'm a cheapskate for not spending money on shop bought presents?

Jose, peeps appreciate quality. You're creating something out of, well, effectively, nothing, and you have a skill that others don't have. So no worries :)

RLS - thanks, I hope so, no I don't make angels.

Wheelie - thank you, encouraging words as always :-)

well it's nearly three weeks since they got married and I've had an e-mail to let me know the gift has arrived but that's it, no 'thank you' , I don't even know if she likes or hates it.

From my point of view, I took the time and trouble to make a special keepsake for a special day. But if you receive a present which you don't like then what is the wedding etiquette and how long after the wedding should thank you notes be sent out?
