Sewing - 1993 - 2004

18th September 2009

As a follow on from a link in the fabric bookmarks post, while I was supposed to be sorting out for the oak cabinet I bought the other week, I ended up looking through some old photo's of things I've made from 1993 - 2004, so I thought I would share them with you, things have been made mainly for presents.
1993 - (above) this padded coathanger set I made for a friend.
1993 - (above) I made this pot-pourri wall hanging for my Gran's 75th Birthday. Even back then I was thinking of new ideas and recycling, this was made using an embroidery hoop and my Mum's old living room curtains!

March 1995 - (above) this was a set I made for my Mum's birthday and Mother's Day, it was the first time I'd done any ribbon weaving and again recycling some bedroom curtains. December 1994 - (above and below) I made this set of applique, lace and ribbon lavender bags, tissue holders and matching coathanger set for my Gran, this was the first birthday and christmas she was in a home after she had a stroke earlier in that year, someone else must have thought it was a lovely present as well because after my Gran passed away my Mum only found one tissue case and one lavender bag in her things because the rest of it had been pinched! How low can you get stealing a present which has been made with love and care, so I just hope to whoever did it, what goes around comes around.....
1995 or 1996 - (below) I made this hanging lavender rope for the bathroom. 1996 - (below) I made this coathanger and lavender bag set for myself with cream silk fabric left over from making my wedding skirt......
then a few years later a tissue box cover......
and tissue holder and small pot pourri hanging hat.
As you've probably guessed by now I have a thing for lavender. Looking back through the photo's I can't believe I've been making lovely things for sixteen years and it doesn't feel that long ago since I made everything.....
